On Friday, August 11, 2017, John C. Kimball High School held its annual Senior Sunrise. Seniors of the class of 2018 were expected to arrive around 5:30 A.M. for food, games, a photo booth, friends and of course – the sunrise. It was an annual event where seniors can enjoy the sunrise, hangout, and take their class picture. However, many people had complaints, claiming that it wasn’t as fun as they thought it’d be, and that it was way too early.
When asked how the pictures went, Shelby Salinas, a graduating senior of 2018 said, “The picture taking process was too long.” Also, senior Camryn Seek replied with “…It was so annoying, it was a hassle.” Despite the picture process, Salinas admitted to having a good time and even said the early time was worth it.
Leadership at Kimball played a large role in planning the event and Senior Alyssa Scott, who is also the ASB secretary, stated “Everyone seemed to have a good time regardless of the time that the event started.” She also said more people showed up than leadership had expected. Senior sunrise is an event to let seniors socialize with their peers before they each go their separate ways. Despite the early starting time, which seemed to be a controversial topic, they got to experience a fun senior event for their last year in high school.
